Journey Overview

Mongolia is a vast, landlocked country spanning East and Central Asia, covered in varying landscapes of extensive steppes, the Gobi Desert, alpine forests and snowy mountains. Mongolia has also long served as a historical and cultural crossroad, most notably for the Mongol Empire, that controlled the Silk Route during its peak. The people of the land today continue to rely on traditional herding and a nomadic way of life, both of which are deeply rooted in understanding the relationship between harsh climates, domesticated wildlife (eagles, reindeers, horses, yaks) and ancestral traditions. Such heritage continues to be honoured through celebrations at events like the Golden Eagle Festival, where ethnic Kazakh hunters showcase their ancient tradition of hunting with the help of trained and domesticated golden eagles.

In this tour, we will make our way across Mongolia in car, driving through the rugged landscape to witness some unique landforms and nomadic ways of life in the remoteness of the vast steppes. You will also have the great opportunity to witness the Kazakh eagle hunters demonstrate their unique skills with their majestic birds (with wingspan of over 7 feet), and embrace other cultural events and traditions of the local people. In contrast, you will also experience an urban side of Mongolia in its bustling capital Ulaanbaatar, with its modern infrastructure and various cultural facilities.
